Leyland had several of its vans available from Martin Walter Ltd with an official conversion. The first of these was the Leyland 20, which has not just a roof and interior conversion, but was also available with a complete ‘coach built’ redesigned body that sat on the Leyland 20 cab chassis, which was the Leyland Landcruiser.

Later models included the Leyland Sherpa, which was Leland’s answer to the popular Ford Transit van, and again was available with either the typical dormobile roof and interior conversion (pictured above courtesy of dormobile.org.uk) but also a full coach built body from Martin Walter on top of the cab chassis, moving the car towards what is deemed a Motor home rather than a traditional camper van.

If you have a Layland Dormobile conversion, we want to hear from you. email us with any pictures or tales of adventure you’ve had in your Dormobile and we will dedicate a page just for you in our readers rides section. contact us at: rides@dormobile-cars.com
