Fiat Dormobiles are a very rare sight indeed, although the conversions were produced in very small numbers.
The conversions were usually based on the 850T van (pictured above), and the later 900T model, but as neither was particularly popular in the UK at the time of Martin Walter, then it is not surprising that not many exist any more, plus rust is a big killer of these Fiats.
We are struggling to find any pictures at all of an official Fiat Dormobile conversion, (we can find the odd nondescript camper conversion, but not a proper Martin Walter one) so if you have such a car we would love to hear from you – just email us at: rides@dormobile-cars.com and we will print any images or stories you have of your own adventures in your Fiat on a page dedicated to you, in our Readers Rides section.

The Commer Van was offered for conversion by Martin Walter, and despite being a popular van at the time, never quite had the popularity of the Bedford conversion.
The Commer van was available for 2 decades and a great deal of camper conversions were offered, even an official Commer Cars Ltd conversion, but the official Martin Walter Dormobile version is notable by its trademark side hinged roof. Bedford was one of the most popular manufacturers to receive the Martin Walter conversion, the first being the Bedford CA. This was so popular that the general public still refer to the cars as Bedford Dormobiles, mistakenly thinking it was Bedford themselves that offered it as a model.
If you have a Bedford Dormobile conversion, either the CA, CF, HA or later models, we would love to hear from you and will gladly publish your stories and pictures on your own dedicated page here in our readers rides section. Just Email us at: rides@dormobile-cars.com

Several official conversions of Austin Morris BMC vehicles were made by Martin Walter, although a little rarer than the Bedford CA / CF and the well known VW Camper conversions. Such models encompassed the Austin A152 van, the Morris J4 conversion pictured above and the later JU250 van conversion.
If you have an Austin Morris Dormobile conversion, we would love to hear from you, and we will happily publish any stories or pictures you may have about it on your own dedicated page here in our Readers Rides section. Just send us an email to: rides@dormobile-cars.com
